2012 Festivals at Bodega Marichal
In 2012, you are invited to join us for the traditional festivals which won’t fail to amaze you with original proposals throughout the year. Like every year, The Wine Tourism Association of Uruguay, Los Caminos del Vino (the paths of wine), will host the Harvest Festival, the Tannat and Mutton Festival, and the Pruning Festival at all its member wineries, including Bodega Marichal.
Hands-on experience. The Harvest Festival will take place in March 10. It’s the most popular festival and the one in which wine producers have their hands full with vineyard activities. You may join us for harvesting, grape tasting and being part of the traditional grape crushing experience. After that, you are invited to a wine tasting combined with an interesting variety of dishes.
Haute Cuisine. The Tannat and Mutton Festival will be held in June 9. There you will be able to appreciate the perfect match between this variety of wine and different dishes prepared with mutton. There will also be wonderful surprises as the day comes to an end.
Down to Work. In August 11, at the Pruning Festival, you will have the chance to share the experience of pruning the vineyards with us and then join us for a tasting of a variety of wines to wash down interesting dishes.

The Tannat 2007 from Marichal Wines is in the exclusive wine list of Gerard Basset, the world's best sommelier

Visitors to the Hotel Terravina at New Forest, near Southampton, in Hampshire, England, can enjoy now the Marichal Reserve Collection Tannat 2007. The wine theme hotel is owned by Gerard Basset, the best sommelier in the world since 2010, who chose this wine to restart the adding of wines from Uruguay.
The Marichal family is more than happy: one of their wines for sale in the United Kingdom was chosen to be in the wine list of the Hotel Terravina. This luxurious boutique hotel was awarded "Newcomer of the Year" by the Good Hotel Guide, Conde Nast named it as one of the 65 Best New Hotels and it was the winner as Small Hotel of the Year in the South East of England in the prestigious Tourism ExSEllence Awards in 2008. Being there is of particular importance because the owners of Terravina are no less than Gerard and Nina Basset, who purchased the property in 2007 and spent several months modifying it to achieve its ideal: an elegant, simple, theme hotel in the Californian style, where food and wine would play the main roles.

Robert Thompson has chosen three wines from our winery for his menu

Robert is one of the youngest ever winners in the world of a Michelin star. He is the Chef Patron at The Hambrough (www.thehambrough.com) , overlooking Ventnor Bay, with spectacular views of the English Channel. Wines of Uruguay UK gave him the opportunity to try some Uruguayan wines. During that tasting he was surprised by the quality of the wines and he decided to include seven Uruguayan wines on his wine list. Three of the seven wines Robert selected are from our winery and are: Tannat Marichal Reserve Collection 2007, Pinot Noir/Tannat Marichal Reserve Collection 2007 and Marichal Grand Reserve 2005
